60 Years a Freemason!

Pilgrim Lodge No. 7728, which meets at the North Leeds Masonic Centre in Leeds, celebrated a magnificent achievement on Tuesday, 28th May when W Bro. Paul, PAGReg, PPSGW, presented W Bro. Terry, PProvGReg, with a Certificate and a Masonic Pin Badge, celebrating his 60 years of Masonic membership.

In order to invite Terry’s wife to accompany him, the lodge was ‘Called Off’ during the middle of our regular meeting, and the presentation performed with both W. Bro.  Terry and his wife in attendance.

During the presentation W Bro. Barrie PPJGW, reminisced with Terry about the history of his 60 year masonic career highlighting significant parts, including:

  • Becoming a Freemason in Kent in 1964, as the son of a Freemason (a ‘Lewis’)
  • Moving to Leeds where he joined Pilgrim Lodge
  • Becoming Worshipful Master of Pilgrim Lodge in 1996
  • Receiving Provincial Honours & promotions
  • Receiving honorary membership of Pilgrim Lodge.

Continuing the presentation W Bro. Joe, PPGSuptWks, reminisced with Terry about his life outside Freemasonry, sharing significant events in Terry’s life, including:

  • Completing his National Service in the RAF, late, due to undertaking & completing an engineering apprenticeship
  • His business reasons for relocating to Yorkshire.

W Bro. Joe, also reminded the Lodge of Terry’s generosity. Highlighting that Terry, together with a second W. Bro Terry (a former member of Pilgrim Lodge) had presented a Tyler’s Sword to Pilgrim Lodge.

Throughout the presentation the members present enjoyed an interesting glimpse of Terry’s life, and Masonic career, that has spanned 60 years, with lots of humour and sincerity!

Terry graciously thanked W Bro’s, Barrie, Joe, and Paul, and was warmly applauded by the members.
